Collected Writings of John Murray : 4 Studies in Theology
COLLECTED WRITINGS OF JOHN MURRAY
4: Studies in Theology
1. The Claims of Truth
The most important of John Murray's shorter writings, brought together to provide the best introduction to his thought, and well illustrating his own conviction that theology should be 'shot through with ardent devotion'.
2. Select Lectures in Systematic Theology Provides virtually John Murray's own selection from his articles and lectures in systematic theology. The arrangement is in seven sections which deal comprehensively with the themes of Man, Common Grace, Christ and Redemption (2 sections), Sanctification, Church and Sacraments, and the Last Things. None of the 36 chapters has previously appeared in any of John Murray's volumes.
3. Life; Sermons; Reviews Ahographical account of John Murray's life and long teaching career (by Jam H. Murray) is followed by the first published collection of his sermons, including some of his communion addresses. Also included, are the penetrating book reviews which he contributed to The Westminster Theological Journal during the years 1939-53.
4. Studies in Theology
A number of Murray's longer articles on doctrinal subjects first appeared in The Westminster Theological Journal of which he and Paul Woolley were founding editors in 1938. These are reprinted along with selections from work in historical theology, a number of hitherto unpublished pieces and the book reviews which Murray contributed to The Westminster Theological Journal during the years 1954 to 1967.
